　　主持人：李老师您好，托福阅读句子插入题之间的关系是如何衔接的?

　　李老师：你好，托福阅读句子插入题我们先从它的出题方式了解：

　　Look at the four squares that indicate where the following sentence could be added to the passage.

　　【句子】

　　Where would the sentence best fit?

　　做题原则有三条， 一是插入句与上下文在语义和逻辑上衔接紧密。二是不破坏原文已有的衔接。三是概括信息插入具体信息之前。

　　做题技巧：

　　1. 找指代关系(代词)的词：this,these,it,such,another,that,he,she,one,they, their,the

　　2.逻辑关系的词：But, However, Thu, Therefore

　　3.主要信息：根据句子内容的关键词定位回段落中，具体分析应放入定位句之前还是之后。托福阅读遵argument在前，supporting detail在后的原则

　　例如：Paragraph 1: What do you remember about your life before you were three? Few people can remember anything that happened to them in their early years. Adults' memories of the next few years also tend to be scanty. Most people remember only a few events—usually ones that were meaningful and distinctive, such as being hospitalized or a sibling’s birth.

　　Other important occasions are school graduations and weddings.

　　Where would the sentence best fit?

　　我们首先看这个句子有明显的代词other，表示“其它的重要场合”，那插入句的前面也应该提到场合。看出题段落，发现只有最后一空前面出现了场合being hospitalized or a sibling’s birth，所以就应该插在最后一空。

　　例：Paragraph 1：It has long been accepted that the Americas were colonized by a migration ofpeoples from Asia, slowly traveling across a land bridge called Beringia (now the Bering Strait between northeastern Asia and Alaska) during the last Ice Age. The first water craft theory about the migration was that around 11,000-12,000 years ago there was an ice-free corridor stretching from eastern Beringia to the areas of North America south of the great northern glaciers. It was the midcontinental corridor between two massive ice sheets-the Laurentide to the west-that enabled the southward migration. But belief in this ice-free corridor began to crumble when paleoecologist Glen MacDonald demonstrated that some of the most important radiocarbon dates used to support the existence of an ice-free corridor were incorrect. He persuasively argued that such an ice-free corridor did not exist until much later, when the continental ice began its final retreat.

　　Moreover, other evidence suggests that even if an ice-free corridor did exist, it would have lacked the resources needed for human colonization.

　　Where could the sentence best fit?

　　待插入的句子中有一个逻辑词even if，表示让步。说即便ice-free corridor存在……那这句话的前面肯定会说到ice-free corridor不存在，也就是最后一空前面有提到。那就插在最后一空。

　　例：Paragraph 4: Trade …Chinese porcelain wares imported into the Arab world. ■So admired were these pieces that they encouraged the development of earthenware made in imitation of porcelain and instigated research into the method of their manufacture. From the Middle East the Chinese acquired a blue pigment—a purified form of cobalt oxide unobtainable at that time in China—that contained only a low level of manganese. Cobalt ores found in China have a high manganese content, which produces a more muted blue-gray color. In the seventeenth century, the trading activities of the Dutch East India Company resulted in vast quantities of decorated Chinese porcelain …notably Delft. The Chinese themselves adapted many specific vessel forms from the West, such as bottles with long spouts, and designed a range of decorative patterns especially for the European market.

　　Foreign trade was also responsible for certain innovations in coloring.

　　Where could the sentence best fit?

　　待插入的句子没有代词和逻辑连接词，所以我们找主要信息去定位。发现句子中有coloring，那原文中提到颜色的就只有B和C之间的blue。Blue是一种具体颜色，应该放在插入句子的后面。
